Masataka Taketsuru founded Nikka’s second distillery in 1969 – Miyagikyo distillery. He chose this site in the mountains of Sendai to contrast with his first distillery, Yoichi, located in the coastal area. Using less peaty malt and distilled in a pot still heated by indirect steam, This soft and luxuriantly fragrant single malt has an elegant fruitiness and a distinctive aroma with a strong Sherry cask influence.
Tasting Notes: A great rich sherry nose and nicely balanced oak. Aromas of raisins, prunes, dates, cherries, dark chocolate and licorice. Gives a clean and long finishing of red fruits with touches of oak and earth.
