Masataka Taketsuru founded Nikka’s second distillery in 1969 – Miyagikyo distillery. Using less peaty malt and distilled in a pot still heated by indirect steam, this soft and luxuriantly fragrant single malt has an elegant fruitiness and a distinctive aroma with a strong Sherry cask influence.
Awards: Best Japanese Single Malt 12 Years and Under (2012,2013,2015) & ISC 2010,2013 Gold Medal winner
Taste: Intense amber gold and a nose of burnt toffee, candied winter spice, initial crunch of apples and pear accompanied with vanilla and cinnamon followed by aromas of caramel and butter. Well balanced heat and dryness spreading throughout the mouth with relatively light weight on the palate.
