Masataka Taketsuru founded Nikka’s second distillery in 1969 – Miyagikyo distillery. Using less peaty malt and distilled in a pot still heated by indirect steam, this soft and luxuriantly fragrant single malt has an elegant fruitiness and a distinctive aroma with a strong Sherry cask influence.
Taste: The Miyagikyo Single Malt 2000’S has an aroma of orange and ripe dry pineapple. The woody flavor is sweet and full of body with hints of tea with a long finishing of dry malt. It is a truly excellent whisky for those who want to try out a whole decade of Nikka whisky.
